To start things off, the World Cup is a competition that is held every 4 years and has been one of the most competitive and decorated competitions in the world since July 13, 1930. The teams that play in this competition are all representing their countries and whoever wins gets to lift the fabled World Cup trophy for their nation. There have been a lot of memorable moments and big winners. For example, the national team Brazil has won the competition a total of 5 times! This is the most amount of wins that has been recorded in history! But the first ever winners of this tournament was Uruguay back in 1930 as they had a very strong team and was able to crush the competition with ease.
In the past years, there have been many football phenomenons such as the late great Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo Nazario, Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane and many more! these players are some of the best to ever do it back in the day and are recognized by football fans around the globe. They have all been key players for their countries and have given it their all to win for their country. Pele is the man who holds the most World Cups in history with an astounding 3 trophies tucked in his cabinet!
But now moving into the modern days and with the 2026 World Cup being so close, people are more ready than ever! The last World Cup which was in 2022 and held in Qatar showed every new fan that football is truly worth living for and was one of the highest watched sporting events in the entire world. The trophy was lifted by the fan favourites, Argentina as they had an all out war with France in the finals. But in 2026, people expect things to be different as there will be more teams which means more action than ever! The tournament starts off in the group stages where 4 countries are contained in a bracket and only the top 2 teams from the table are eligible to move on to the quarter finals. But with more teams being incorporated, there will be many more tables and group stage matches. People have already decided on favourites to win the trophy. Some countries on this list include Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, France and much more.
